The Science of Running
VO2 Max Testing
VO2 Max has long been considered the gold standard of
cardiovascular fitness and capacity.
SportsLab of Real Fitness, Inc. is equipped to devise an
individualized protocol that will determine your VO2 Max (maximum
oxygen uptake).  The higher your number, measured in milliliters of
O2 per kilogram of body weight per minute, the more fit you are.  We
are also able to determine your true Max Heart Rate during this test.
Improvements in Max VO2 over time can reflect a heightened
performance capacity.

Anaerobic Threshold Determination
Endurance athletes produce lactate at all work intensities, including
at rest.  The less lactate you produce at any given intensity, the more
aerobically fit you are.  Through a series of progressively faster
running stages,
SportsLab of Real Fitness, Inc. can measure your
lactate production for each speed and create an individualized
lactate curve.  Using an individualized protocol, we are able to
pinpoint your aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold, both of
which are key training parameters.  A reduction in heart rate and
lactate for any given running speed can be indicative of improved
performance capacity.
